Before you even watch the movie, know that the cast is a STRONG “phwoar” line up: Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Urban …
The female cast is just as strong though: Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson and Rachel House!
I am a HUGE Marvel fan. Always have been, and always will be. Yet with each new movie and new director, there’s always a chance it won’t live up to expectations.
This movie DID NOT disappoint.
Directed by our own Taika Waititi (‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’, ‘What We Do in the Shadows’, ‘Boy’), the movie is extremely well done. Although let’s be honest, my prerequisites for a movie often include loads of action and some laughs, so I’m hardly an expert.
I actually worried when the movie first started that it might be a bit TOO funny, which would possibly take the movie in a direction I wasn’t prepared for.
However, the humour was perfect.
The cast was perfect.
The New Zealand accent is strong and SPOT ON.
Standout performances by our own Karl Urban and Rachel House. Super proud to see these guys in here. And Korg (the character)?! Well you’ll just have to see how amazing he is …
Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchet are forces to be reckoned with and are very inspirational to watch in terms of female leads.
I would gladly pay money to see this film again, and I hope to take Phil because I know he would love this movie.
Thank you to the amazing Walt Disney team who invited me along to the premiere. I will forever be grateful to have a first look at such an iconic and hilarious movie.
Oh and PS stay until after the credits. PLEASE. It’s a Marvel movie, there are always sweet treats at the end.
